This time we examined the bodily proportion of the senior high school students (one hundred and twenty-one boys, one hundred and thirty-nine girls) as judged from the photographs of their breadths and heights taken by the silhouetter (Type II). The followings were the results of the examination. (1) As for the five items of measurement in respect of height and the three in respect of breadth, we compared all the average measurements of the seventeen-year-old students with those of the sixteen-year-old ones and again with those of the eigheen-year-old ones, and as the result of these comparisons, the 5% significant difference was recognized between the biacromial breadths of the sixteen-year-old students and those of the seventeen-year-old ones, but the differences were extremely slight and negligible in other comparisons. (2) The parts of the female bodies which showed sex difference to a remakable degree were the waist height (back) and hip breadth. (3) The correlation of the ratio of acromion height to stature with that of biacromial breadth to stature was very slight [γ(the coefficient of correlation)=-0.04～0.33] and the correlation of stature with biacromial breadth was an inverse one in both cases of boy and girl, and the greater individual difference in shoulder form was recognized in the bodies of the senior high school students than in those of the junior high school ones. |
