We investigated the consciousness on the dieting or the thinness of the youth by using questionnaires in December 1999 and January 2000. The results were as follows : (1) Three fourth of the respondents had the normal body type from BMI (Body Mass Index). In teens of men, teens of women, and 20-29 years old women, the thinness was the second. A half of men thought their body type normal, but about 60% of women thought fatness. Almost of men thought their body type correctly. But over a half of women misunderstood their own type, because 50% of thinness young women thought normal and 29% thought fatness, and 52% of normal young women thought fatness. (2) Thirty four percent of the normal body type women which men considered were thinness. Nineteen percent of the fatness women which men considered were thinness and 81% of the fatness was normal. Thus, men didn't recognize the women's body type correctly. |
