I investigated the dietary habits and the everyday life of the youth by using questionnaires in Kagoshima City and the Suburb, Kagoshima Prefecture, in June and July, 1999. The results were as follows : (1) Two thirds of them lived with their parent (s) and 1/4 lived alone. Most of them were healthy. The average getting up time was 6 : 49,the average time for going to bed was 0 : 18,and they slept for 6 : 29 in the average. A half of them worked for part-time and the average working hours were 4 : 09. Their incomes were from part-time, an allowance and a scholarship, and their expenses were for food, clothes and social expenses. (2) One fifth of them didn't eat their breakfast. Most of them took snacks. The average breakfast time was 7 : 13 and the supper time was 19 : 30. Most of them used less than 30 minutes for eating breakfast and less than 60 minutes for supper. A half of them ate breakfast alone but 2/3 ate supper with their families. Two thirds of their mothers went to shopping food and cooked meals. Most of them used already cooked food or instant food. Most of them were satisfied with their dietary habits. (3) There were the differences between the youth living with thier parents and the living alone in time-use for living, incomes, expenses, going to shopping food, cooking meals and some others. |
