We made an elementary school children and a junior high school students the subjects of our measurements and examined their somatotypes, esp. as regards the changes in their somatotypes during the years from 1967 to 1979,that is, twelve years after it. (The subjects are four hundred and fifty boys and four hundred and sixty-two girls in 1979,and four hundred and fifty-two boys and four hundred and forty-seven girls in 1979. They are from seven to fifteen in age.)1. As for the mean value of height of the boys and girls, it is greater in 1979,and seven-, twelve-, thirteen-, and fifteen-year-old boys and nine-, ten-, eleven-, twelve-, and fifteen-year-old girls showed the P<.01 significant increase in height. 2. As for the mean value of lower extremity length both the girls and boys in every grade showed greater length in 1979,and boys from seven to fifteen in age except fourteen and girls from seven to eleven in age and fifteen-year-old girls showed the P<.01 significant increase in length. From this we can know that lower extremity length contributes greatly to the growth of their body. 3. As for the mean value of bust girth, thirteen-year-old girls showed the P<.01 significant increase in it. From the general survey of the somatotypes as subjects of our examination in 1979,it is almost evident that their lower extremity length is now becoming greater and their body of larger build. |
