Test method for determination of surface flash characteristics of textile pile fabrics was investigated, and surface flash characteristics of various apparel fabrics were examined. Surface flash characteristics were measured with a modified Mushroom Apparel Flammability Tester. Pile fabrics, such as circular pile stitch fabric (pajamas) and fleecy fabric (trainer) were displayed surface flash characteristics without burning the fabric base. Corduroy, velveteen and towel cloth were not displayed it. The intensity of the flash flame was so low as not to ignite the fabric base, but sufficient to ignite the edge of paper. |
