We measured the juvenile side-silhouettes photographed on the negative pictures by means of the Type II silhouetter and examined them. Students who underwent the test are three hundred junior high school students (one hundred and fifty boys and girls) and two hundred and sixty senior high school students (one hundred and twenty-one boys ; one hundred and thirty-one girls) : i, e., five hundred and sixty students all told. The measuring items are ten in all ; five on the front and back side angle ; three on the depth ; two on the height. The following are the results. 1 As for the measuring value to stature, the girls showed greater degrees of posterior waist angle than the boys. And as they grow up to have their proper breast and pelvis region, sexual difference becomes marked in bust depth and hip depth. 2 The somatotypes of the boys showed a more marked tendency to have individual bodily features such as the slouchy form, as they approach manhood. 3 The important points about the measuring regions in clothing construction are as follows : (1) To make the back body of a garment which fits the convexity of the shoulder blades region of the male somatotype. (2) To construct the clotch line which fits the posterior waist of the male somatotype. (3) To construct the darts, the change line and seam line which fit the breast and hip of a female body. |
