The two results obtained by measuring girl students of The Kagoshima Prefectural Jr. College, one on 162 students in 1961 and the other on 113 students in 1969,were compared and the difference between the two, separated by eight years, were examined. The results are as follows : 1. In the results in 1969,stature and chest girth are superior to those in 1961 by 1cm and 0.5cm respectively, but no significant difference is seen here. The items which show some increase on the significant level are torso-leg length and head circumference, which show five percent increase, and anterior waist length, width at shoulder, length of elbow, around waist, around armscye, wrist, and body weight, which show one percent increase. 2. The ratio of the stature to the total head height is 6.8 in 1961 and 7.0 in 1969. The significant difference between the two is 1%. 3. As for the classification of types of torso, about 50% of them (both in 1961 and 1969) are of normal type, about 19% are of a small waist. And concerning the rest, about 30%, the number of those with a little larger breasts, increased in 1969. 4. Comparing collectively the two results, of 1961 and 1969,according to Mollison's relative deviation broken line, some decrease, 1 σ about total head height and 0.7 σ about leg length, is seen. 5. The correlation coefficients of all the items to stature and to chest girth show nearly the same tendancy in both years. |
