This research on beddings forms a link in the chain of the program of investigation researches on clothing construction. From the last ten days of April to the end of May in 1971,questionaires were distributed among two thousand, three hundred and eighty senior high school girls in Kagoshima city in order to know actual conditions of beddings in their house-holds. Two thousand out of two thousand, one hundred and fifty collected questionaires were good. The results were as follows : (1) The average number of beddings belonging to one person was researched. The number of counterpanes averages 2.0 per head, that of sleeping mats does 1.7,that of Mattress does 0.7,that of blankets does 0.9 and that of beds does 0.3. (2) The average number of beddings belonging to one household was larger in a large income-group than in small one. This tendency was remarkable especially in the average number of beds ; the number of beds averages 1 to 1.6 in a family which had a yearly income less than \1,990,000 and averages 2.3 in a family which had a yearly income more than \3000,000. (3) In order to sleep soundly it was to be desired that a counterpane was warm, light, and agreeable to the touch and that a sleeping mat was stable, warm, hygroscopic and springy. |
