The study of behavior and beliefs connected to the Japanese culture and the attitudes toward the Japanese language highlight this interrelationship. Culture-specific behavior can be explained by the study of the Japanese language and culture. Inhibition, a personality trait shown to hinder progress in learning a second language, may be a common personality trait among Japanese ESL students.
